Aswan is the 3rd biggest
town in Egypt today and the biggest one in upper Egypt, the city
today is a major mining area for aluminum and iron . Aswan is also among
the very famous cities ion the map for the tourists to visit besides Cairo and
luxor
Aswan is a major stop for most the cruises. as most of the Nile cruise sail from luxor to Aswan and vice versa.
The population of Aswan is around 3 million and mostly consists of Nubians and local tribes of Kenzo. the city became very important after the construction of the high dam and the worldwide rescue campaign of the Nubian monuments during the construction of the high dam.

You can reach Aswan by train either from Cairo or from luxor , the train station is located in the city \centre and there is a daily service seater and sleeper train to Cairo and luxor.
